Majestic Fairy 3rd Birthday
I can't believe Capri is 3! She's really been into majestic creatures lately, so we decided to do a fairy party theme. One of her favorite things to do is lookup cake pictures. We saw a photo on pinterest with a cake that had donuts and candy on top and her mouth was literally watering. I decided to try and replicate a vegan version of it, and boy did it go wrong! See, I have this friend Lizzie who is a super talented baker (Lizzie's Bakery) and makes the most adorable cakes! After watching several of her cake decorating videos on Instagram I thought I knew what I was doing. I made the cake the night before and left it on the counter wrapped up... Well, it definitely fell over sometime in the night and looked more like the leaning tower of Pisa! My mom and I tried to salvage it and this is what we got.
We had ordered vegan mini cake donuts from Revolution Donuts here in Atlanta and the platter was completely emptied halfway through the party! We also had some cupcakes for people to grab as they pleased and I was so happy with how the Fairy Cake Toppers tied into the theme! Another sweet hit were the mushroom sticks made with apples and vegan marshmallows from trader joes. But I'd have to say the crowd favorite was the Ferry Berry Wands! The kids loved them!
I used my Silhouette Cameo to make hanging paper wisteria for the dinning room and it turned out pretty cute. I think I'm going to do a post on how I made it incase anyone else wants to try it out! I also added in some vines and little fairy dolls from the dollar store and the kids couldn't stop playing with the "flying fairies!"
I started saving jars from sauces, jam, fruit etc for a few months and they were the perfect touch for this little tree in our backyard. We filled them with fake flowers and hung them with twine. It turned out super cute! Our party favors were fairy wings and ribbon fairy wands for the girls and bow and arrows for the boys.
We also found tons of fairy decorations at BIG LOTSI! Capri still plays with all the figures and fairy houses!
Capri loved her fairy party complete with a castle bounce house, snow cone machine, and face paint. She was so happy that both sets of grandparents flew out, along with her favorite Uncle Tryst and all her new Atlanta friends were there. We had a wardrobe change halfway through the party because her snow cone spilled all over her pink dress, but she was happy to have a birthday backup from her second bday lol.
Her Nana had painted this fairy door and windows for our big oak tree in the front yard and Capri loved knocking on it to see if the fairies and elves were home.
After talking with Capri, she decided in lieu of gifts, that she wanted to donate her Birthday to The Gentle Barn to help animals and children. I'm so proud of her for choosing to help people even if it means less presents. What 3 year old would choose that AND completely understand what it means? Even though her bday was donated (and we're so thankful for everyone who donated on her behalf) she was still spoiled by some thoughtful gifts from friends and family.
